Cradle Method: This method involves flipping your rabbit onto its back, and cradling it in your arm like a baby, with its head tucked firmly under your left arm. You should support the rabbit's rump with your left hand. This method is useful for holding the rabbit, clipping the back claws, inspecting the genitals, and grooming the back fur of your rabbit.
Below are some images to show you how to perform the Cuddle Method on your rabbit:
Begin as if you are doing the Cuddle method, holding the rabbit up to your chest.
Turn the rabbit onto it's side with its back towards your left arm.
Slowly tilt the rabbit upside down, gently pushing with your right hand while supporting the rabbit with your left arm.
Tuck the rabbit's head firmly but gently under your left arm/elbow, and support the rabbit's body with your left hand.
The key to this method is to move firmly but gently. If your rabbit is not used to being handled this way, it may struggle, especially if you are acting unconfidently. Your rabbit can sense your timidity and will fidget. Hold the rabbit as firmly as you can without causing it any discomfort, and keep its head tucked well under your arm. Remember; when you are handling your rabbit, always act with confidence.
